Day 24 of 40

Jesus Time

Time with Jesus will change your life; it is a better use of your time and energy than anything else.

When Jesus lived on earth, he often visited the home of his dear friends Martha and Mary of Bethany. On one visit, Martha was busy preparing food and readying it to be served while Mary was spending time with Jesus—listening to everything he said. She was focused on getting to know Jesus and seemed hungry for intimacy with him. But Martha wasn’t happy about Mary’s lack of help in the kitchen:

She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Jesus came as Immanuel—God with us. He wants people to experience the intimacy they long for through a relationship with him. Do everything you can to share time with Jesus and with others who are also growing in their relationship with him. “Jesus time” is a better use of your time and energy than anything else.

Consider This:

  1. What is a reasonable goal for the amount of time you spend with Jesus each day?
  2. What are your keys to reaching that goal?

Take Action:

Spending time with Jesus includes quantity and quality. Now that you established a goal for your quantity of time with Jesus, work on “quality control.” Brainstorm three steps you will take to guard the quality of the time you spend with Jesus.
