Profound Reflections about God

Profound Reflections about God

Day 2 of 50

God Delights In Us

God delights in us—even in our weakness, unbelief, darkness, and deliberate misbehavior.

If ever God is guided by his emotions, it is when he thinks about you. You give God great pleasure. You simply being yourself charms him. Sure, you could let others point out reasons that God would be disappointed in you. But they are measuring you against perfection, and you don’t have to be perfect. Only God is perfect.

Focusing on your faults causes you to miss out on the joy you bring God. You are the crowning achievement of God’s creation, and that gives God ultimate pleasure. God is totally committed to his love for you and will never be unfaithful in that relationship.

In fact, God’s delight in you overshadows all the things that could make you feel unworthy. Satan wants you to feel unworthy and to wrap yourself up in all that junk. But not God. God proclaims to all of creation that he is satisfied in you and by you. Don’t let anyone take that away from you.

Consider This:

  • How does it make you feel to know that God delights in you even though he knows everything—everything—about you?
  • In what do you find the most delight? Is it because it is perfect in every way?

Take Action:

Intentionally do something you wouldn’t normally do just because you think it would delight God.
