Golden Nugget: On the cross, God demonstrated both his justice and incomparable love. future.

Daily Message:

We are bound by time; we have a past, a present, and a future. However, God is not bound by this. He saw you just as clearly two thousand years ago as he does today.  And when Christ died on the cross, God placed all your sins—past, present, and future—on him. They were paid in full by Christ before you had committed even one of them—before you were even born!

On the cross, God demonstrated his justice in judging mankind for breaking his laws and simultaneously showed incomparable love and compassion for you and me. 

The author of the biblical book of Hebrews put it this way: “But [Christ] has appeared once for all . . . to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many.”

• In what ways have you tried to make amends or pay for your own sins in the past?
• How is accepting Christ’s payment for your sins different?

Now that you have an understanding of Christ’s payment for your sins, how should you treat people differently? Who do you need to forgive that has legitimately wronged you? How should you communicate your forgiveness to them?
