Spiritual Food

Golden Nugget:  Make yourself a lunch appointment with God to take in some daily spiritual sustenance.

Daily Message:

Most people need food on a daily basis. Food is essential to our physical well-being and survival. You may not realize it, but you need spiritual food, too. You need to regularly take in spiritual sustenance to grow and mature as a Christ-follower. And—just like with physical food—you need to consider what and when you eat.

Planning a time to “eat” your spiritual food is like making plans to meet your best friend for lunch. It’s an appointment with someone who cares deeply about you and who wants you to know him better—Jesus.

After you establish your time with God, plan what you are going to eat. Try reading one to three chapters of God’s Word—the Bible—each time. The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are a good place to start. They tell the story of Jesus’s life and are like bread for a hungry soul.

Consider This:

  • Do you have a Bible of your own that you are comfortable reading?
  • Where can you find help with a reading plan?
