Golden Nugget: Amnesty day is here!

Daily Message:

Imagine you live in poverty and you are able to survive only through prostitution. The land in which you live has harsh penalties for those involved in such a practice, so you live in constant fear. Then one day, the king of the land declares general amnesty. All criminal behavior—including prostitution—is forgiven.

Wouldn’t that be good news? Of course it would! But would amnesty alone be sufficient to change your way of life? No. Why? Because you still live in poverty, you still need to survive, and prostitution is all you know.

But what if the king’s goodness to you extended beyond just “blanket amnesty”? Imagine what would happen if the king not only forgave your crime, but also asked you to become his bride. Now, because of your association with the king, you would not only be forgiven, you would have the power to change your way of life.

If you have received Jesus Christ as your savior, he has secured your salvation and your place in God’s family forever. Your identity has changed from prostitute to bride of the king!

Consider This:

  • How has your view of yourself changed since you decided to follow Jesus Christ?
  • How else does it need to change?

Take Action:

Take a moment to think about what has changed least and changed most about you since you became a Christ-follower. What has changed most is only a sample of what the future you will look like. Thank God for who you are becoming in him.
