Golden Nugget: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” —Jesus (John 6:35)
Daily Message:
Can you imagine being in a committed, loving relationship with someone you never talk to or see? Relationships require time and attention—but many of us move through life at a pace that leaves us exhausted and ready to collapse.
People who don’t eat enough calories can experience fatigue, shortness of breath, irregular or fast heartbeat, dizziness, and cognitive problems. And those are just physical symptoms. Just as our physical bodies need food to thrive, so do our spiritual lives. We can last for a time without physical food, and we can last for a time without spiritual food. But eventually, without food—either physical or spiritual—we become weak and vulnerable.
For a person in a relationship with Jesus Christ, time spent reading the Bible and talking with God is vital for life-long spiritual growth—and protection from starvation.
Consider This:
- What is the biggest barrier to your reading and understanding the Bible? What is the biggest barrier to your spending time in prayer?
- How can you remove those barriers?
Take Action:
Write John 6:35 on sticky notes and put one near your alarm clock and the other on the dashboard of your car. Let these notes remind you to look for open windows all day long to spend time with God.
