Golden Nugget: “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” —Saint Catherine of Siena
Daily Message:
The fact that the creator of the universe desires to do something radical in you is pretty amazing. But it doesn’t stop there. God also wants to do something mind-blowing through you. “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.”
To confess belief yet continue to live as if we hadn’t is a strong temptation. The above verses encourage us to resist that temptation and instead work to develop the qualities God desires. As these are formed in you, God will begin to work through you as well. The passage continues: “For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
As godly character is developed in you, God will work through you to be an effective help and encouragement to others.
Consider This:
- Who are some of the people God worked through to change your life?
- How many of the characteristics described are evident in the lives of those you listed?
Take Action:
Contact one of the people you named and thank them for allowing God to work through them. Let them know the character traits you see in them and ask them to pray that God would use you in the life of someone else.
