Jesus on the cross

Look at Jesus

Golden Nugget: “Let us…fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith.”

Daily Verse: “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” —Hebrews 12:1–2

Daily Message:
I will never forget standing in the middle of Red Square in Moscow for the first time. I felt like I was watching a movie . . . like I was in a movie! In front of me were images I had seen from a distance since childhood. The sights were so incredible that I couldn’t decide where to look first, and I was thrilled to experience Moscow for myself.

As your interest in Jesus comes alive, you will discover new firsthand experiences. Some will be awkward and confusing to you. Others you will appreciate and enjoy. Reading the Bible, engaging people in spiritual discussions, or even attending church are possible new experiences.

But where should you look to get the greatest benefit? Today’s verse provides the answer. The most important place to look is a person: Jesus. A close look at who he is and how he lived provides information and inspiration for your faith journey. Keep your eyes on Jesus, following his example.

Consider This:

  • What is your biggest question about Jesus?
  • What steps can you take to understand more about Jesus?

Take Action:
Go to a local library or go online to do research about Jesus. For a Christian perspective, read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the Bible. Pray and ask God to show you some answers. Talk with a friend about what you are learning.
